Sorry to say nothing comes cheap. I'm also 14 and take taxidermy step by step. Don't think you could use house hold products...it isn't a good idea.If you want to really tan you'll have to spent at least $30 for a good supply of good products for tanning. I don't know how much Krowtan 2000 might sell for but it could be less...From what I hear...its easy and a one step thing. Go to Amy's Site at Amystaxidermy.com and click tanning. Read it. Also, search the archieves(oange button) for tanning info. Hope you find what you need.

no cheaper way

household chemicals? mix them and die. many of our "safe" household chemicals when mixed will release deadly gases.

our safe chemicals for tanning are not all that expensive.

first spend your money on books about tanning. once you have an idea about tanning and are succesful with known chemicals and have a good hand on Algebra, have a working knowledge of chemistry and base elements.

THEN YOU can begin experimenting with chemicals.

You are 14, I dont know and by your admission you dont have much money, wanting cheaper ways.

Go back through the tanning colum and find the post of aboput 3 weeks ago, its basic tanning plain and simple.

HARDWOOD LEAVES GROUND UP and soaked with water. Thats as basic as it gets. then oil and break for softness.

I'm 13 and need lots of help too

Hey go to www.nwtrappers.com. Then click OTHER and then click TANNING KITS. There are some pretty good tanning stuff on there. I use Rittels EZ-100. It is $30 and It works great.

try this (im 15) its kinda groos tho. its an old inuit way of tanning. You take the brains out of the animal boil them in water and blend them in a blender untill they r a paste then use that just like n e other tanning solution. If the animalaint big enough or u mess up go to the local meat market or butcher and they will sell cow and pig brains to you. this method I have found is actually better and makes chaeaper and if u do it right the tans are ALOT softer, and its all natural no harsh chemicals.
