I would like to know a way to preseve squirrel tails that are to be handeled frequently. I have been told to take the bone out and borax the tail but did not know if this would prevent hair slippage. Caould someone explain in smi detail the procceger for this.

Also is there a way to tan/prezerve while leaving the tail in?
It is easy to take the tail out so i would recommend it. I have gotten by just salting them but if you are going to handle put some dry perservative on them.
You should remove the tail and tan it. Then in can be handled. As for the bone if you just borax it and put it back in, the future will hold a pretty smell for you but it will go away and if the hair falls out like it does on my head don't say I didn't warn you LOL.
Also there are companies out there that sell artificial tails that you can use for them.
