worried about tanning my 2nd squirrel

Submitted by sandy on 02/08/2003. ( )

i had a bad experience with my 1st squirrel. during the tanning process, the outer epidermal layer (along with hair) peeled off. someone said not to wet tan a squirrel and that i water logged it....but i have a big bag of ez-100 and would like to use it. anyhow. when you pickle, i know it says to do it for a certain amount of hours...and the tanning solution...a certain amount of hours. with a squirrel, should you shorten the hours you soak in the solutions as described? thanks for your time.

No matter what I still pickle them guys for three days in a PH of 1-1.5. After that I'll shave it a bit place it back in over night and then neturlize it and then tan. Never had a problem with them.
It may be a bit over kill on the three days but heck I'm never in a rush.LOL
