Can you add Aluminum Sulphate Ground during pickle

If pickle opens up fibres why can't you add tanning agent then, what will happen, and what ph # should be used? Or does it depend on what kind of pickle being used?

You can!

But you have to realize that tanning involves several steps, of which the penetration of the agent is only one.

Penetration occurs best at a low pH. But most tanning agents actually bind to the expanded fiber at a higher pH. Depending on the acid used, you can take all day and several doses of your buffer to get the pH to come up enough to tan.

It's usually just as easy and more effective to use seperate floats for pickle, neutralize, tan.

(Unless you're using an Automatic Tanner!)

couldn't resist lol
