Mix 8 ozs. of hydrated Lime (not the lawn stuff) to each 1 gallon of water needed to completely submerge the skin. Let it soak and stir it around ocasionally - but let it soak until the hair comes off "at your touch" - no sooner or you will have a difficult time. This usually takes 7-11 days depending on the temperature.
After you remove the hair and the pulped epidermis - then you have to kill the effect of the Lime. First you rinse the skin real well - then you soak it for 24 hours in an Ammonium Sulphate solution. After that - simply tan it by placing it in a pickle and processing it like you would hair-on.
