A cape...

A cape is the rest of the animal usually a deer or other trophy w/ the skin & fur but no head. A cape can be tanned or green or salted etc... A tanned hide is any fur thats been tanned, a cape or otherwise. A pickle is an acid solution you soak skins in to kill bacteria and prep for tanning.

pickling

Pickeling I think would be a less drastic measure to take then tanning suitable for fish eh..!

Slightly disagree with cape definition

Cape is the skin from the tip of the nose to a few inches behind the front shoulder. It's the skin used for head-shoulder mounts.
