coon and ez-100

hi again, as you probably know i just got some ez100 a couple of weeks ago and just finished my coon. it worked great compared to the stuff i had before. there was only one spot i have a question about. after i tanned it the tail is like a little greasy or maybe it is just fat i dont know, and it isnt tanned. so i was wondering what I could do to that to make it tanned. I had the same problem with my deer hunters tanning formula, which didnt get half of the bottom part, but ez100 i just have the tail so I was just wondering if there is any answer to how can I get that part tanned?
Thanks, Erik

I hate to make it sound simple, which it is, or sarcastic, which it will sound, but...why not scrape that fat off like you KNOW you should? Better yet, follow the rest of the directions and degrease it as well, at least next time. It will make things much better for you, trust me!

fat

Im not sure it is fat though because before I started to tan it i was trying to shave it down a little and after i started i stopped because my knife cut right through and now there is a little hole in it. it is not noticeable but im not sure what is fat and what isnt

It has to be degreased!

Coon must be degreased - or you'll have spotting. And to avoid cutting into the tail - always shave from the tip towards the base - NOT vice-versa! Otherwise you get what is called "popping off" the tail! Or - like in your case - holes!

That sounds like a handy nugget for future reference, Bruce. But I am a little lost; is this tail split open? Or do you turn it inside out somehow?
