THIS IS FOR BRUCE Rittel. I AM CURRENTLY PICKELING A 9 FOOTER.
I AM USING THE TANNING TECHNIQUES DESCRIBED IN Breakthrough WINTER 93.
I HAVE IT IN LUTAN F SOLUTION, NEXT STEP IS TO RAISE PH TO 4.5 USING SODIUM ACETATE FOR 90 MINUTES.I CANT SEEM TO FIND SODIUM ACETATE,SHOULD THIS BE SODIUM BICARBONATE? AND ALSO WILL PLAIN LIQUID TAN WORK INSTEAD OF SULFINATED TANNING OIL? I AM DOING A FLAT SKIN.

Sodium Bicarb will do it!

To raise the PH - simply substitute Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) for the Sodium Acetate. The Sodium Acetate is much milder - but the Sodium Bicarb will do it.

As for using something other than a good tanning oil - I wouldnt. Simply economics - tanning oil is much cheaper to use and will do a better job. since its already tanned using Lutan F (N) I wouldnt recommend using another agent on top of it.

Lutan F then tanning oil

hey Bruce, the procedure calls for 24 hour soak in Lutan F, then tanning oil. Isnt that right? Or can I get by without tanning oil?
