buckskin tanner

Does anyone know of a good tanner that can take a deer hide a turn it in to a gun slip, gloves etc. I have found many on the web but I would like your input on a good tanner to use. I would also like it if they would use the hides that I send them on the stuff that I buy. Is that realistic?

They are located in Owatonna Minnesota. Sorry I don't have a current mailing address or phone number.

Would they send back your own hides? I really can't answer that one.

Had Jacket Made

Dear Mr. Newburn I am from Faribault, Minnesota (now living in Seattle). My late grandfather, CE Purdie, (founder or Bonanza reloading equipment and Gopher Shooters Supply) had a jacket made from one of his deer hides by Uber in Owatonna at least 30 to 40 years ago. I have been hauling this jacket around in a box for 15 years and just last week took it to be cleaned and had the sleeves shortened. It looks great. The quality is very good, and I am happy to have this fond memory of my grandpa. There was still a pair of his shooter ear plugs in the pocket! He passed away in 1982. Good luck with Uber, and if you use them be sure to mention this! Thanks
