Submitted by Mike Barrus on 03/11/2003. ( camolion12@yahoo.com ) 68.81.101.77

I bought and recieved a dorsal skun Bobcat...It was froze...sent three day air to me....opened as soon as it arrived..the skin was hot inside the box...just a little smell and some of the fat seemed to be blue heading toward green and yellowish...tugged on fur and it all seemed tight..being that I was going out of town for a week I through it in the freezer....My question is should I just thaw, flesh and put in a pickle?...or is there something else I can do to increase my odds at a succesful tan?...just looking at all I can to make this work...thanks
Mike

Salting after fleshing should be the first step. Being that it was warm I'd get some bacteriacide into the rehydration process also...

Mike:
Bacteria has already set in (heat, smell, and color); if you want to try and save this I would suggest you go to TaxidermyReference.com and purchase STOP ROT. While your there read the articles about the usage. You can also go to whitetailsystems.com for more info and purchasing. I would do this ASAP. Glen Conley I am sure would be happy to help you on this.
