HAIR SLIPPING

I just finished fleshing and salting a bear and in some places the hair is starting to slip. The face, ears and head seem ok but the body hair pulls out with some force. I do all my own tanning and this is my first bear and I don't want to loose it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Del

...Del, most animals will loose hair when pulling with "SOme Force", so stop pulling. Bears are a bit tricky at times. They tend to slip in the arm pits as well as the belly, usually because of Heat retention or poor field care. If you've fleshed the the meat and fat off with either a beam and Draw Kive or by Machine, salt it like you did. Be sure to work the salt as best you can into the skin. I would repeat this step 2-3 times and follow the pickling and Tanning process as normal.

Hope this helps,
Dave
