Cowlicks on deer

Help! I have had my deer capes wet tanned and frozen. Now when I mount them, some of the hair on the shoulders, and face curls up. Any suggestions on how to deal with this? Has any one else run in to this problem. How do you get rid of the stand up hair? I have tried the hair gel and carding, but this does not always work. I got desperate and tried steam - to no effect. Any suggestions, or insight to this problem would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks MAC

Steam Bad. Carding Good!

Without seeing the problem I can't tell you exactly what to do. I can only suggest something that might help. The first thing that came to my mind, was the skin alignment. If the skin is say stretched, twisted or, mis-aligned it will not lay natural. The biggest culprit for this, is wrong form size. Good Luck!
