I've seen the bigger fleshing machine advertised by Van Dykes. I think it's called the Dakota Commercial model. I was just wondering if it would be worth getting? The price sounds good. I can't afford to lay out over a $1,000. right now. I've been using a mini-flesher and fleshing beam. I need something more for Beaver.
I also have one more stupid question. Can you use a fleshing machine for green fleshing. I was just thinking it might be handier than a fleshing beam and scraping knife. Thanks, for your input, Steve1

Every hide I take in gets fleshed on the machine.
I thaw it, turn the lips, eyes, ears and go on to fleshing. Run it therough the washing machine with my favorite chemicals and flesh.
I can shave the hide very thin.
I just finished fleshing a totally raw deer cape, ran the tear ducts, lips and nose (past the crosshatched leaders) Yes I did cut one, one inch hole in the back of the cape, one bb sized hole in a lip, one 3/8 hole in the forhead. Ten minutes of sewing and I can dp and mount or salt and procces. I can run it in the Auto-tanner and use 2/3rds less chemicals and it will come out of the A-T a qucik final shaving and you can oil and mount.
I use formic acid for most greasy hides.
I have recently shaved the hide, A-Ted the hide and oiled with Krowtann 2000 and with in a hour have total penetraition of the tan.
I have one resting now, with Krowtan 2000 and will mount it tonight.
Fleshing beam hasn't been used in my shop except to take picture for people who want to see what a PVC beam looks like. Haven't used it in 5 or 6 years since I got my professional fur dressing machine. They come in green and get fleshed, they get pickled, they get shaved, they can tanned, and I still dress them down before mounting all with the same machine.
I dont use a beam anymore. All I use is fleshing machine.
