Andy;
Hit the little orange search button, and type in tanning deer hides, you'll find around 1,100 answers. Or purchase a few video's and or books on tanning.

Andy;
All I was trying to suggest to you was to read the archive's. You need to go to the library, or buy some books on tanning. There are also some very good tape on the market about tanning. But you definitly need to get your hands wet first. Practice on some hides and skins first. Not every tanning is going to be to your satifaction in the beginning. Follow the steps in the instructions to the tee. Go out and get some fresh road kills, and practice on them. When the next deer season comes around go to some of the processing houses, and see if they will give you some capes off of a doe, or unwanted small buck capes. If not offer to buy them. The best tip I can offer is to practice and practice.Learn to cape out a deer. Flesh, turn the lips, eyes, and invert the ears. Learn how to salt down the cape, how to pickle it, neutralize it, tan it and oil it. We can't give you all the answers on how to do it. Do it first, then if your having problems with it, then ask us. there is always someone here to help you out. If that is not enough tips to give you. Then someone else will have to help you out then.
