dehairing in cold weather

I have several deer hides from last Fall. I got the bright idea to start dehairing these to make some buckskin. The only trouble is the weather turned cold and my dehairing solution, with lime isn't working according to plan. I know this is supposed to be a warm solution and it should only take a few days to slip the hair. My question is, will keeping these hides in this cold solution for several weeks have a negative affect on the leather. Thanks, Steve

...your best results will be in a water temperature of about 70-72 degrees. As you stated, within 2-3 days the Lime will have done its job. Then you can Bate with Oropon or the likes.
But if its sits into a water solution for to long, the skin can spoil and start breaking down.
How long has it been in the Lime solution? If its been a few days, you may be able to put it on a bean and scrape the hair off with a draw knife or the likes.
Just a sugestion.

Good luck,
Dave
