I have some sea-otter hides that I believe might be beyond help but have to try. The hides were taken 3 years ago and have a little meat and fat on them still, they were dried hard after salting several times. They have been stored dry in a shed. I am trying right now to rehydrate on in a heavy salt bath they have been soaking all day and only show a little sign of rehydrating. I was wondering if the oil (fat) on them could be hindering the process? Any ideas or are they beyond help? I have another that was fleshed clean and salted hard dry but still feels oily, should I degrease it first before rehydrating? I think this one will be fine after it is degreased.
Thanks for the help
Joe

I'm just a beginner, but I heard that Rittles Ultra Soft Relaxing Agent is great for any kind of dried skin.
Good luck
That's what I thought that I would order today to try with the other hides that are still dry. I would guess that there is good instructions with the product?
Thanks again, Joe
