Hi,
I tanned a antelope with lutan-F,oiled, tumbled and usually would mount, but for the fact that a 50 cent piece sized slipped on the upper neck. The rest of the hide seems to be OK. But I am considering drying it down to possibly tighten up any other potential iffy spots. Then rehydrating and mounting. Would this help at all, or should I just mount and repair as usual? Thanks a bunch.

No one else is answering this, so I'll give my input and it may not be right. Drying a hide out will tighten up some areas that might be prone to slip, but by wetting things in a rehydration bath this would probably loosen the hair up again. I'd mount as usual and cut out and sew any places that slip. Throw it out if it is too bad. There are also some chemicals available that might help slippage in your rehydration solution or on the skin itself, but I haven't used either. I too would like to hear some input on this, since I'm far from being an expert...Steve
