I never tried anything like this and had no sound advice when I started, just found this site.I streched a Diamond Back skin on a board skin side down then nailed it down and rubbed a thick layer of table salt on it. It has been one week, what next. Have I ruined it?

No, not really, all depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to tan it, get Bruce ritels snake tan kit. Read the instructions and you are good to go. If it is to be mounted, you will have to rehydrate the skin, cure it or borax it, then mount as usual. The salt will cure the skin and stop decomposition. It is a good beginning and actually helps for what you want to do with it.
