I know the ph level of ez-100 is suppose to be 3.7 to 4.0. I also know that you put 1 oz of ez with 6 oz of salt per gallon of water.
What should the salinometer read? We get different readings per gallons of water:(for example,7 gallons as compared to 20 gallons). Is this possible or should it be consistent?

6 Ozs. of Salt to each 1 gallon of Water is not considered a lot of dissolved Salt. And - unfortunately at low Salt concentrations a Salinometer does not read accurately. It's one reason that reusing your tanning solution can be a problem. Determining the percentage of Salt to re-add to it for the next batch will be inaccurate. A salinometer is best used mid-range for more accuracy. But that also means using 12-16 ozs. of Salt to each 1 gallon of tanning solution - and thats not a wise idea!
Ok, a salinometer is not an accurate measure in a tanning solution as compared to the ph level? And it is unwise to add extra salt in a tanning solution? (In other words stick to the formula). By the way, could extra salt break down the tan? Thanks for the info.
No, the extra Salt will not break down the pickle - the extra Salt will however become residue that is unwanted in the tanned skin or cape. If you tan a skin with too much Salt residue in it - when it dries, on humid days it may "weep" or get damp. The extra Salt will draw moisture from the air. Only a minimal amount of Salt is needed in the tan to protect the skin from acid swelling.
