Neats foot oil is NOT a tanning oil. It's a leather preservative/finish like you see on the outside of a new wallet or a new saddle. You need tanning oils. I let my hide become almost dry so that when I apply the oil, it soaks in to some degree. Break it and reoil it overnight. Then repeat the process until your overnight soak leaves oil puddled up on the hide. It's done then.

Hey, Red

What are you tanning? Buy some of Bruce Rittels saftee acid and Ez 100 to tan it's not hard. He makes a great product. All the instructions come with, if not I'll E-mail them to ya, okidoki. See ya latter. MichelleW

Well if I would have read the title, duh

I would have known what ou was tanning. I still say buy the saftee acid and EZ 100. If you havn't already salt the hide for 24 hours. then shake off the salt and reaply and let set for 48 hours. Let the hide dry hard. That will set the hair. You can rehydrate the hide when your ready to pickle. MichelleW

thanks
