Only 1 thing worse--Crotch rot.
Many of you will think this is collusion, but I assure you, I don't share any of Glen Conley's massive wealth by sharing the following endorsement.
If you have a questionable hide, this stuff works. If you always dread a bobcat or fox because of ear slippage, this stuff works. In fact, Glen and I have used it in several areas that the USDA or FDA probably would spasm over and IT WORKED.
I'm not sure even Glen knows WHY it works, but it just does. This is a must product to have in your shop for "just in case" purposes. It's not a snake oil or magic potion, but it works like they were advertised to.
with you George! I now have a bottle of Stoprot available at all times. If you even THINK their might be a chance of slippage use the stoprot. This is another (you gotta try it) product I would highly recommend.
Stop Rot is the real deal, George and Booniez are right on with this one. Stop Rot is a short term preservative that gives you more working timw on a green cape. As a part time taxidermist with a full time job a Van Dykes and a family wife and two kids aged 2 and 4. Not to mention the two dogs who love it when I squeeze in as much time hunting and fishing as possible. I don't have a lot of time each night to do taxidermy so when Stop Rot came along I just had to give it a try and put it to the test although inadvertently.
Here is how I have used it. I generally cape out a deer and tag and bag it. I will take them out the night before I plan on splitting lips, turning the eyes, ears, and nose and rough fleshing before salting. When I get home from work the next evening I lay them out and apply Stop Rot covering all the flesh working it in with a gloved and making sure I get the ears and face really good. Then I clean up and go in for family time. Which means chasing the kids around till supper is ready, eating, chasing more kids, then they are finally ready for bed. This leaves me a couple hours to do some taxidermy work. Stop Rot was my life savior because did I mention that my wife teaches math at the high school and coaches volleyball and track and is involved in every student teacher activity possible. So when I do get time to work on something it doesn't always go according to plan. Well the second time I tried this procedure I had barely got one ear turned and something came up and I had to stop until the next day. I wasn't worried I would get to it the next day for sure. I just re- bagged it and placed it into the refridgerator till I got home from work the next night. Well the next night after dinner is the night I learned about the swelling capabilities of a raisin. My daughter Cassidy stuck a raisin up her nose and this one didn't come out like the others! Well needless to say I didn't get to the cape until the third night after the doctor removed the raisin on night two. I was getting worried. I pulled the cape out of the bag expecting a bad smell and hair slipping, but no the cape was fine. I finsihed splitting the lips, turning the eyes, ears, nose, and rough flesing. Then salted the cape down. I completed that cape with the Whitetail Desginer Systems tanning chemicals and had great results. Thank you Glen for introducing me to such a great product for the taxidermist with limited time. I reccomend this to all the busy taxidermists and the ones who are not, like George said if you have a bottle in the shop and that iffy cape comes in apply a little Stop Rot and you and your customer will be amazed at the results.

P.S. It only took me about three hours to completely type this post here at home. My son Nathan was helping and he erased it once and then got mad when I told him NO! SO I had to chase hime around till he got tired enough to take a nap. Now I can get some taxidermy work done.
Almost spooky . .I to have a 4yr old and a 2yr old . My daughters name is Kassidy . I have a full time job and work taxidermy at night . The only difference I see between me and you is the "wife cooking supper thing" . That is a rare occasion at my place!
