I am just curious about the actual potentiaL of earning a living at doing taxidermy. I have been doing it as a hobby up till now and am starting to improve. Would like one day to start a business.

Donna, see that little orange icon to the left there? Click it and type in "Can I make a living doing taxidermy". There are already 413 answers to that question in the archives, but I'm SURE someone will need to add a few more to the list here.
No...
I personally think that it will eventually in due time turn into a personal hobby and not so much of a business as the "mindless thinkers" in Washington screw everything up. With all the regulations, Animal rights groups, Tree huggers, and all the concrete being poured, there will probably only be Fish Taxidermy left-If that. The business Most likely will end up as Reproductions/Molds of a time that once was.
Well if your really motivated and willing to establish drop off depots here and there and got people helping you and your really good at it besides who knows?
If your artistic stick to fish,to earn a living. With the price we get for fish and the little actual work involved ,as long as you can paint it's a license to print money!
Fish taxidermy is pretty much ALL labor. And Paul, your "artistic" statement pretty much slams all other forms of taxidermy.
I's thinks you's trying to get a rise out've folks Paul!
All taxidermists do is sit around, talk about hunting & fishing and stack up money!
Make a living? Hey it's just like playing a guitar on MTV - money for nothing! (Course you're probably not interested in the free chicks)
Do it as a hobby or part time for extra spending money...
