How long in the acid bath?

Submitted by Dean on 06/25/2003. ( natureinwood@aol.com ) 205.188.209.44

I'm sorry I havn't checked the archives but its 1:00 A.M. and I have to get up at 6 a.m. for my regular job. The question I have
is I just put a Beaver, Otter, and bobcat in the acid bath (Rittles) and was wondering how long they should be in there. They have been degreased already and I'm going to tan them with E-Z 100. I do Whitetails mainly but took these on for a friend. Any help would be greaty appreciated. Thanks for any help----Dean

Hi Dean,

I am assuming you are using saftee acid. Leave the hides in the pickle for three days. Pull them out and shave them and then put them back in the pickle for another 24 hours. You can leave the hides in the pickle for up to 2 weeks or more if you have too. When you go to tan in the EZ-100 don't leave the hides in longer than 16-24 hours. Hope this helps. Have a nice day/night. MichelleW
