What kind of salt should I use?

I am about to salt a skin, and I know this is a dumb question, but what kind of salt should i use? Just regular table salt? Also, does the vinegar type pickling method work very well?

Yes table salt is fine...the diference is that you might have iodized salt or non....has somthing to do with $. Both will do for salt drying hides. Search if you wanna learn more.

Dave,

Use Non-Iodized salt. U can buy it from the store. If you are going to be salting a lot of hides buy it from a feed store. If you buy it from a feeding store ask for feeded salt. It is used to mix with feed for animals. Make sure you get the plain white salt and not the brown cuz it has additives. As for the vinager pickle i have never used it. I use Rittels saftee-acid and it works great. He makes a great product.

Thanks
