Tanning a Very Wooly Sheep

Submitted by David on 07/03/2003. ( ) 4.42.5.214

I just read a answer from George, which he answered a question for Justin, regarding tanning a very wooly sheep. George mentioned that it cannot be done by @ home tanning. Do to the lanolin that the sheep naturally carries which needs to be removed. Well how do you remove it? Also,is the Pressure Tanner able to do the job?

There is a product you can by from Rittel's called Wool Degreaser that is specially made to take out the lanolin in sheep hides. He also sells a sheep tanning kit. I don't know about pressure tanners. I think what is considered the hard part about sheep is cleaning and combing out that mess of wool.
