flesh-all Mini flesher

After reading the arch's and not being able to afford to import one of those nice looking bench fleshing machines i decided to lash out and try the flesh-all mini, (even with my hubby nagging about the cost of bringing one over).
Well, i know its not the 'fleshing machine' i'd like to have but im very happy i bought it anyhow.
I have just spent a 'delightful' afternoon fleshing/shaving down my first cape with it - a scrub bull.
Just the thought of doing it with a plain knife was enough to make my back ache but this little gadget took care of it. I was even confident enough by the time i got to the face to do it with the mini. Yeah i may have to go over it once more just to make sure the hides thin enough - but its alot easier with this than the knife.
I didnt nick the cape (i kept the guard close to the blade while i learnt to use it), though i can see now what some people meant about 'flying bits'. Gave me a good laugh.
I pulled it apart to clean and oil it when i was done for the day - only to nick myself! (dont it sting!)
I can only imagine how much easier having a bench flesher makes this job.
(I just thought i would post this for other learners in my position).

Glad to hear of your experience and like of the Mini-Flesher. Great tool...know many taxidermists who also use it too. It's actually a Air Power Tool used in the Auto Body Repair Industry for cutting metal...converted over ingeniously for Taxidermists Fleshing capes, hides and skins.
Like yuou discovered...very effective.

When it arrived Dave said to me - i have something like that already, he went and looked and he did have the cylinder motor bit.
If they sold the cutting head attachment on its own might have saved myself a few dollars.
Nevermind - its done now, lol.

I personally havn't had the clogging problem. Maybe someone else can answer.
If mine dug in deeper than i wanted, i just adjusted the guard.
