Salt in bulk

Where would be a good place to get bulk (cost effective) salt?
I live in a small South Dakota town and don't want to deal with shipping etc.. Can I purchase a salt from a fleet or farm supply that would be the same as what is sold in grocery or taxidermy suppliers?
Non-iodized pickling salt that I have used previously is sold in too samll of quantitiies for my needs.

Yes! You can buy salt from a feed store. Ask for white feeder salt. Not the brown salt because it has minerals added to it. Michelle

I dont know how much you are planning to buy but I have a meat packing plant in new orleans and i use ALOT of salt for curing meat. I get mine from cargill. It comes in 80 lb bags and im not quite sure what the min. amount is to buy but i guess it wouldnt hurt to call

I found some salt that is called fine white salt- but it has Yellow Prussiate Soda addaed to it? Thats not iodine or an agent that can discolor hair is it?

If you read the label real close and dont read into it.

You will find the Yellow Prussiate Soda is added to prevent caking. It will not discolor hair and you will never know its in there.

Feed Salt

A common feed store salt will do just fine. We use feed grade salt that comes in a plastic bag with the picture af a Hereford steer on the front. White bag with a red front with that dang cow on it. Easy to spot around here, don't know about South Dakota. Don't they have cows up that way?
Good Luck!
