I mounted an elk earlier this year. The customer has yet to come for it.It is a pro. wet tanned hide but it seems to have an oder, Iam thinking maybe the oil, it feels oily, but not all that bad. Could i take some thinner or mineral sprits and spray on and wipe off? Any ideas? Thanks

You dont say what it smells like, fish, mold, or elk? I would use a spray cleaner and try then then if there is any tackyness after it could be the tanning oils. When all else fails FABREEZE.
Most fur dresser oils are water soluble-or very easily washed off the skin surface.
