Hey I was wondering why taxis use special slats, what's wrong with table salt or something like that? Sorry for my ignorance, I'm a beginner.

Only thing wrong with table salt is the cost.
Many people think you can;t use a salt that has iodine in it [not true].
I prefer a fine salt but some like coarse.
If you buy it at a feed store it's cheeper.
