I am in need of a tanner. I have a Ostrich hide that has come from Africa and I to have in made into boots or a purse. I need some one who could do both or give me directions? Help

A few years a go I had a customer, ostrich farmer, who wanted the skins tanned. I located a tanner that did that, through my fur dresser. The tanner WOULDN'T accept any ostrich hides that were DRIED, only wet salted hides were suitable. I hope that you find someone, but my experience makes me believe that your skins may be beyond tanning. Hopefully not.

Where do you live? Ostrich tanning is very specialised so there may or may not be suitable tanneries in your area. You could possibly surf the net under Ostrich & Associations or Ostrich & Tanneries under a specific country designation.
Dried ostrich can be successfully tanned and finished but it is very difficult and you would probably be restricted to dark colours.
