I am new to tanning and this is my first try. I picked up a road killed skunk yesterday. No odor but fat. I skinned her out and found lots of fat and noticed she was starting to breakdown. I skinned her out anyways and decided to scrap off some of the fat before I froze her. (Didn't really have the time to try and flesher her out.) When I started to scrape off the fat I noticed everthing(fat, muscle) was coming off fairly easy, all the way down until I could see the hair follicals (sp?) Is this ok or bad. This is my first time fleshing anything. Am going to be brain taining it if that helps. Thanks for your help and expertice.
Hoping to make either a hat out of her or just a wall hangning.

i would say its fine. skunks are very greesy animals and also have a good amount of fat, just like coons. if the hair isnt slipping i would say you have a winner. you did fine by freezing it like you did. when you go to tan, make sure you use a degreeser. it will help alot.
Jon thanks for the quick reply.
Will regular Dawn dishsoap work as a de-greaser or should I use something else.
