Hi all, I am a rank beginner. I composted some rabbit hides a couple years ago and haven't tried anything since. I wish to tan some chickens, just the necks and saddle areas, to try and sell the skins to fly tiers for hackle feathers. I have no idea what to do. Could you all please give me some advice on where to start and what to do? Thanks, robert.

I've been tying flies for 4 years now and all the feathers I get, the skin is boraxed and dried. The deer, squirl, badger hair I use the hides, etc are tanned. Hope this helps. MichelleW

The tails of both squirrels and deer are used for making streamers. The body hair from a deer can be used for muddler minnows as well as floating bugs, frogs and such...
