stretching and drying tripe salt?

hello, for an art piece i want to stretch and dry tripe. do you think salt and air drying will work or should i get a snake skin tanning solution to achieve this drying without rot? any ideas? thanks for your time. sincerely, moe

This is just an idea, but if I were to attempt it, this is how I would do it. Soak it in a Borax solution and then rinse it off and air dry it. There will be shrinkage so you will have to take that into account. If you are trying to keep the texture of the inside in tact, I might even consider an alcohol soak. Since I don't know the results you are trying to achieve, it's hard to make any more suggestions. Please let us know how it turns out.
