I hear that deer skin rugs get really dry and the hair falls out all over the place. Is this true? If so, how to care for it, and if not, what is the truth?
Thanx,

and breaks even after tanning. I would display the rug in a way that the hair doesn't get damaged, like on a wall. If it's tanned right, hair shouldn't fall out of it. I don't have a rug, but deer hair will break off.
I never recommend to a customer to use a hair on Deerskin where it will recieve wear. Even over the back of a chair - eventually it will begin to shed hairs as it dries and becomes brittle. You can spray it with a good Lanolin Wig spray to slow down the process and add some lubrication - but it wont completely stop it! And - the spray also adds a certain oily feel to the hair that is a magnet for dust and if brushed with your hand - comes off on your hands.
