I am just ready to do my final fleshing before degreasing and returning to the pickling solution and I would like to know if it is possible to do any sort of fleshing with a hand drill and a soft wire wheel.
Thanks,
Nelson

The wire wheel method seems to come and go on this forum, Personally i use a bench grinder with an 8 inch wire wheel on one side and a corse 8 inch stone wheel on the oter side. no it isnt a dakota v or eger beaver, fleshing machine but for now it;s working out pretty good for me. the wire wheel on a drill method is used from what i have read in the archives but if your going to use a wire wheel to shave down a hide your going to need something with adjustable speed.
thats why i preffer the benchgrinder wire wheel method. i use a 3500rpm, 3/4 horsepower bench grinder with out the guards. and a shroud placed above and behinde the grinder more like a splashguard.lol
I;m not the only guy that uses the wire wheel method and i;ll probably get hounded for telling you how to use it. and not to use something like a mini flesher or dakota fleshing machineor qubeck, but i like to use what i feel comfortable with and can afford. The grinder method from what i have found can shave with it and flesh with it and even turn lips and nose area .I can say i can actually turn out and entire shoulder mount hide in approx 50 minutes shaving the hide which is why i like it. just something to think about bec ause the drill will take a wile .best of luck
