We are trying to tan Katahdin sheep hides for the first time. They have hair instead of wool so no lanolin. Any suggestions for methods to use.

It sounds like you have done wool sheep. Hair sheep are no different. I use Chromitan FM for the tan and Formic acid for the pickle and PSE oil and I have had wool sheep, hair sheep, beaver pelt and beaver tail and coyote all in the same tan at the same time. They came out great. The tail is going to need some work but I got 26 of them to tinker with. I would suggest doing them with their summer coat, as the winter one is very heavy and could matt on you. If you can get a cross whool and hair you end up with a very silky hair.
