I have 3 capes in a pickle right now and I want to tan them as i get them shaved. Can i make 3 baths, (1) my pickle, (2) clean water/bactericide/kemall 4, (3) water/bactericide/baking soda for a neutrlizing bath. Or is there a reason why you have to raise the PH in the pickle and not just put the capes in a clean bath with a PH of 7?

You dont need a bactericide the low pH has already killed the bacteria.
Bath #3 the pH is going to climb uncontrolably fast.
Check your tan many tans work better at a pH of around 5
so I can neutralize and tan the capes as I get them shaved. I'm shaving by hand so I was going to shave one neutralize and apply tan in the same day, then go on to the next one however many days later.
I always repickle, just a safe bet. When you neutralize you have to be on your toes or you can over neutralize and slip all the hair.
The reason most tannery tanned hides dont stretch well is they are doing large quanities of hides and dont pay attention to each individual hide. So if you are going to start rushing production you are asking for trouble.
Keep them pickled until you are done shaving and ready to neutralize, then do one at a time, so you produce a better hide, You dont need to take tyhe hide back to 7.0 for tanning. Lutan works at a pH of around 4-5 pH.
Liqua tan works fine at the same pH, I am sure any paint on tan will work the same.
I was just worried about not hvaing any more pickling acid to lower the PH so I was going to get them in and out ASAP. They have been in for 4 days and the vinegar and lemmon juice thing seems to be helping to keep the PH low I'm at about 2.5, still under 3.0.
