What are the going prices for a cape that will be tanned for mounting? Caping skins? Wall hanger pelts

I was recently doing some price checks and obtaining some references on various tanneries regarding a couple of buffalo hides I need to have tanned. What I did was called a few (approximately six) different tanneries to ask. Many sent me one of their price lists, and there are still a few I haven't talk with.
Go to the top of this forum page and click on the "Suppliers." There are a few to get you started there. Also, I subscibe to "Breakthrough Magazine." There are several listed in that publication and probably some listed in "Taxidermy Today" as well.
You will find that tanneries use different types of tanning solutions and charge diffeent prices for different types of specimens. For Example; For my buffalo, prices range from $8.85/sq.ft. to $14.00/sq.ft. Thats quite a big price difference when you're talking about 32 sq. ft. of hide per buffalo.
Check it out and do some research. You will probably end up with a pile of Tannery Price lists and literature which is very useful. I know I use three - four tanneries for different things.
