Drying before breaking

Hey guys, I am in need of some advice/suggestions:

My usual method after tanning (this is for wall hanging/fur not mounting) is I oil with Protal/hot water mix, roll up the hide to let it sweat for about 4-6 hours, then tack it up flat until it is about 75% dry, then pull it down and start breaking. I usually use wood pallets to tack up the hide. However, the hide that I am ready to tan now (its comin' out of the pickle this weekend) is big, and I don't have enough room on pallets to tack it up. Do the hides need to be tacked up to dry before breaking, or can I just hang them, say from a hook or somethin'?

Any input would be appreciated!

Michael

Hang or Lay out Flat

Just let it lay out on a table or hang it up, either way. When it starts to dry, pull it. After a day or so flip so hair side will dry too, if on a table, alternating sides to speed drying time, pull it every day or twice a day. Should dry in about 3-6 days, depending on temp. and humidity.
