My son shot a deer and wants to tan the hide. All I find in my taxy books is how to make buck skin with the hair removed. I want to tan it and make it soft without removing the hair. Please help.

"Breaking" of skin by tumbling or pulling is best bet after following suppliers tanning instructions.
This question was asked yesterday
you can break the hide once about 75 percent dry.over a handrailing,ax blade, board in a vice. and draw the hide back n forth stretching the hide fibers.I also asked the same question about a month ago and was a bit confused on the process. but it worked pretty well for me. I actually took n salted my hide overnight, washed it in cold water n some dawns dish soap. for 15minutes,tumbled it for 15minutes, then fleshed it out, after i was done fleshing it i had placed it hairside down on a piece of plywood n stretched it out n tacked the edges down with some brad nails. and i used the ben mears spray tan on the entire hide .It had set like this for 3 days then i worked the hide over my hand railing, which i must say is kinda hard on the fingers.lol but it did make it nice n soft. i then hung it up
after decideing i really didnt want to let my dog get ahold of it. so i hung it up stretched out on my wall.Havent had any problems what so ever with the hide and it looks pretty nice.
