Cost to have a buffalo hide tanned?

Hi, I'm planning a project to make a buffalo hide (winter coat) cold weather blanket. I've seen tanned hides running from $600 to $1200+, and salted hides running from $199 or so. What is the cost to have a hide shaved, tanned etc...? Is it more practical to buy a pre-tanned hide or have a salted one tanned?

I recommend buying one already tanned and rugged.
