I need a detailed explanation on how to preserve and mount a deer. I caught it before I realised I dont have a big enough freezer
I'm keeping it in the bath full of ice so I need it very soon or the thing will defrost and the kids will start asking questions

Dustin, I dont know how long you have had it in ice but know doubt it is now in ice water which will grow bacteria very quickly!Get it out now or your cape will ruin! Cape you deer from just behind the front shoulders and get all the extra flesh off, then turn the eyes, ears, nose and lips and rub salt skin-side of course very generously, wait 24 hrs. and salt it again. You really would be better off to take it freshly caped to your local taxidermist.Or take it to your taxidermist as is to make sureit is correctly prepared, there is a reason taxidermy is expensive it is very detailed and hard work.As for telling you how to mount it that is not going to happen it get for a few days until you can get it to your taxidermist.Good luck!

And tell me how to overhaul an engine will ya

Dustin,

Laquetta is right. You're biting off more than you can chew right now and you're asking for way too much information in one correspondence. In the meantime you are on a tight deadline with that cape in ice water. It's like asking someone to teach you to swim when your ship is sinking. Get this one to a taxidermist and fast! Plan, prepare, study and get ready so when the next one comes along you're ahead of the game. Because even with a lot of preparation, you'll still have plenty enough problems with your first one. Wish I could sound more cheerful... sorry.
