i understand what your saying, but, I salted for 24hrs, i pickle with saftee acid for 3 days, maintaining the ph between 1.0 and 1.5. took out and thinned 1/2 way through the pickling process, neutralized for 30 mins, rinse, roll in towel for 30 mins and then apply Mc Kenzie tan. After i mounted the deer i was pinning and noticed that if i grabbed the hair with my index finger and thunmb and pulled i would get 10 to 15 hairs that came right out. i wasn't pulling hard at all. I have city water,a nd i don't recall having this happen before. I did about 30 last year using Lutan F and doing everything else the way i always have. Will this hair tighten up as the mounts dry? any advice would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure this is normal. I'm mount deer that you could do that with and once it was dry all the hair set ok. If it comes out in clumps then your in trouble.

It sounds like you ARE doing it as others would suggest, including me. I just have not had any tender cape troubles as you have. I have had it with other products, just not this one. I have a good friend who privately emailed me and has had the same thing happen as you, though. But Ive had close to twenty emails that share my praise of this product. I would first question the condition of the cape, or possibly how long the cape is raw while its getting to you or you work with it. I dont know, those are valid variables that come into play with any choice of tanning. Some will read this and feel Im just not willing to blame the tan at all, others will recognize the variables. Im sorry I cant give you a definitive solution here. I cape the heads as fresh as Im able to, in 30 degree temps most of the time, here in western NY winters, and then immediately take another fifteen minutes to split it and then its in salt. Maybe theres something in that time frame, I dont know. I dont know what else to say. Feel free to call me at 585-637-2450 and we can talk further on the particulars, if youd like. I wish you well.
