Hello,
I am pretty new to deer taxidermy, but I have done some birds. I am ordering a whitetail kit from WASCO. I have heard dry preservative is a nightmare, and I should go with tanning. Well, I ordered the kit, and found out it uses the dry preserve method. I just also completed a nice new fleshing beam for the purpose. I am wondering if I should try my luck at the dry preservative, or since it is getting too late to order tanning materials, I should send it to a tannery to be tanned?

In general, most of us figure why not go ahead and use the DP for that first whitetail, its in the kit, go ahead. You will have plenty of stuff to consider for your future deer mounts. Its never too late to order tanning supplies. When you are ready to simply tan one, go for it. Enjoy!
Try a few D.P. It ain't going to hurt nothing
good experience...keep your mount and watch It for the years to come see how It does?
