hair slipping after pickle

i have some capes that i noticed some of th hair was pulling out of. If you pull lightly you will get several and in some places alot of hair coming out. I know i pickled them correctly, the only thing that i can think is that they were too dry when i salted them. can i resalt and start over? Will this help to tighten the hair up? I need advice badly. out of 7 that i have checked, 4 have loose hair and 3 do not. what can i do?

Hi Dave,

Add a half pound of alum to your pickel for ten gallons of water. It worked for me for 30 years.

You did not do it right or the hair would not comeout.

DID you check your pH with a measuring device?.

Two reason for slippage.

One is bacteria, the other is over neutralizing.

If the hair is slipping. the first thing to check is your pH 3.0 or less.
Simply add more acid.

Bacteria well yo are going to loose the quality of the capes.
