Will my cape be o.k.

Hello. I was wondering if my cape will be alright. I shot the deer around November 6th or 7th. I caped it to the head, then froze it for two or three weeks. After that, I finally got enough time to cape it all out, except for turning the lips. Then, I put what salt I had on it, rolled it up, then stuck in in a garbage bag, then antoher one over that to help keep moisture out. I now have enough time to DP it, which I will do tomorrow.Thanks.

Well, im not an expert, but, you should have turned everything before you salted,, then salted again after 24 hrs, and left out to dry,and if you put the salted cape, and i mean freshly salted, and double bagged it to keep the moisture out, your also not letting moisture out of the cape, should have salted and left out to dry, they can stay in that state for a while. again, im not a expert, hope this helped a bit.

You did about everything wrong that you could! NOW you come here and ask! Wouldn't it have been wiser to come here and ask before you did anything? When you get it out of the bag let us know, because we can only guess at the condition it might be in.

both fingers crossed

Well, when I fully caped out the head, it had no sign of spoiling. There was no bad smell. Also, I live in Washington state, and this time of the year the temp rarely gets above 40. The hair was also in good shape then too. So, I guess I'll wait and see when the DP gets here!
