I have just tried Krow Tan on a deer cape, followed the directions and so far at this point I am very impressed with the results..no slippage, nice white leather that shaves easy and has great stretch.
I know some say it's no different than liquid DP and I'm no expert, but I would have to say that it has produced the finest results I have seen, but should I toumble my capes after using Krow Tan? I tried to find info on the search before I asked but came up with nothing really informative on the subject.
Thank you very much for any and all replies,

I'm here most of the time and I never heard THAT. Now I said that I thought it was nothing more than a strong pickle, but I got beat up over that as well. I just read the ingredients however, and I can't vouch for anything else about it though I have a quart of it in my cabinet.
I have to say I think it's a good product. I have just recently done a coyote using Krowtan and it turned out really well. The hide turned out nice and white with good stretch. And I have to agree with George it dose smell like just a very strong pickel. But the end results were of a good tan. I tumbbeld it in my tumbler with no problem's. One thing to add though take caution when mixing this stuff, cause man I got a lung full and thought I was gonna die..LOL
Told me that it was no better than Dp and strongly advised me not to try it... I like the guy but I have to disagree with him on this one.
Sorry if you thought I was trying to take a stab at you George.. I do remember what you said in the discussion with John C as it was in some of the responses to one of my earlier messages. And trust me, I pay attention to anything you or John C have to say as you have both helped me more than once. thanks again...And if you try it let me know what you think..I was really impressed.
take care and best to you and yours
Didn't mean to sound defensive, just my normal happy self, I guess. LOL. I don't mind the heat. If I deserve it, let it fly.
I DON'T think it's comparable to DP and for years, a pickle was all taxidermists used. If you've ever visited old museums, you can see the results of cracked hides because of it. This product has a long way to go before I can endorse it as a TAN. Just me, however.
i,m about to put a deer hide in a lime bath to remove the hair . imixed the lime i part lime to 3 parts water now my question is how long do i let the lime set before i put in the deer hide or can i put it in right away. another question, what is the best method to nutralize the lime mix after i remove the hide and flush it with water.
