Anyone tried this?

I know that there are many types of salt out there. Has anyone tried multi-purpose rock salt? Will this work?

Rock salt is NOT a good choice

It is too large to penetrate into the areas required for a good coating of salt and much of the product has other trace minerals. Table salt is very cheap and is your best bet. Stick to what works best.

Rock is too mineralized!

Rock Salt contains much too many minerals! Don't use it! Plus it doesnt dissolve as fast as the finer grained salts. If you use it - it could cause some problems for you!

Stick with the type of fine grained Salt used to mix with stock feed.

Thanks

I did put it on a cape, but I put it on top of non-iodized table salt (about 7lbs of table and just a couple of rock), but I have now shook it off and applied your recommendations!
Thanks for your help!

50 lb. bags at the feed store

You can buy it in 50 lb. bags at the feed store. (Look in the yellow pages under Farm Supply.) Much, much cheaper than buying the little bags of table salt.
