Can beaver tails be tanned with Krowtan 2000 Solution? Also, why can't you leave the tail on hide when mounting? Thanks.

I'm not familiar enough with Krotan, but any tan will tan the tail if it has been sufficiently fleshed and shaved. Secondly, who said you COULDN'T leave the tail on? It just gets in the way much like a turkey or pheasant tail and since most of us use reproduction tails in taxidermy anyway, removal before the tanning simply makes more sense. If I were going to use the real tail, I'd certainly not remove it and have to sew it back in place.
