freezing a cape?

Submitted by Branden on 01/07/2004. ( )

Hi, I started doing this deer head for one of my friends, and I have to go back to college before I am going to be able to finish it. I have it rough fleshed and salted, after this i put it in the freezer. I need to know if that is ok for the cape, and how long i can leave it in there that way. I plan on finishing the mount as soon as possible (maybe over spring break). Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

Freezer, Why?

If you have rough fleshed and salted, if you have another day shake it off, resalt and let it dry hard. At this point it will keep fine, you don't have to put it in the freezer.

The problem is its very cold here and i could not get it to dry completely. Will it be ok in the freezer, or should i thaw it out and give it my all to dry it out?

I would not if it was allready salted, just let it dry out with a little help of a fan. If it's allreaty in the freezer, frozen?,let it be.
